Dear friends and students:
I have been a bit lax about getting newsletters out—June was so busy I had not a moment to compose a newsletter, and all the upcoming classes were already filled. My Piedmont Adult School class filled to overflowing, Rosetta’ Costantino’s Italian classes for July and August are sold out (she was in Italy for all of June) . I was also waiting for the web site to be completed, so that I can start making arrangements with several other teachers who want to conduct classes at the kitchen.
We will schedule a knife skills class for later this fall, with Charlie Vollmer, a great teacher who is very much in demand. We will have a class from chef and food writer Laurel Miller, who is sequestered in the mountains at the moment, finishing a new book. There are several other things in the works, including some culinary singles nights with my chef friend and brand new father (yesterday) Francisco Machado, run through Serendipitysf. And, I will set a date for the annual Thanksgiving Dress Rehearsal class, most probably in the beginning of November (I know it’s a long way off!).
Much of my time lately has been devoted to wedding catering and a growing number of team building groups. My corporate client base is expanding, and I am pleased to say that many of the companies have sent several groups in to the kitchen, with great reports and a clamoring for more from their co-workers. I am also working to develop the wedding rehearsal dinner business—one of my favorite activities, as I find it wonderful to see how the two families get to know each other over the wonderful task of preparing and eating a good meal; I have gotten rave reviews from participants, including the information that the wedding highlight for out-of-town family members was the rehearsal dinner!
Once the web site is up and running, I will send a brief (and final) note to you, before I disband this list. You will then be able to check the site for monthly news, new recipes, a calendar of classes—and information for other activities as well. Do remember that I will host private class/party groups of all sorts—we’ve done birthday parties, a wedding shower, and a “pre party” cooking class making food for the ensuing event.
Please do feel free to email or call me with any questions, comments or suggestions.
Yours truly,
Terry Paulding
