Speak and Cook Italian with Rosetta Costantino

October 18, 2008; 6:00pm – 9:30pm

I am teaming up with Francesca Gaspari,
director and language instructor extraordinaire
of the Italingua Institute to present a cooking
class that will focus on learning the Italian
language through the preparation of authentic
Italian recipes from my native region of Calabria.

Students will prepare an authentic Southern
Italian meal under my guidance, while Francesca
acquaints everyone with the language of the
Italian kitchen. The class will be taught primarily
in English, but special emphasis will be placed
on learning the Italian nouns, verbs, etc. that are
commonly associated with cooking and the
kitchen. When the cooking is done, everyone
will sit down and enjoy the meal over good
conversation and maybe even a few stories of
life and travel in Italy. Students may bring wine
to share with the meal.

The class is designed for students and friends
of the Italingua Institute, but anyone interested
in Italian language, food and culture is invited to
enroll – you do not need to be fluent in Italian to
participate. A portion of the class tuition will go
to help support the Italingua Institue, with
language classes in San Francisco, Berkeley
and Marin. Don't wait, this is sure to be a
popular class and space is limited.
